After getting my embossing folders STUCK inside my Gemini Die Cutter -- many moons ago -- I decided NOT to use the Gemini with my embossing folders. But, I so LOVE how my Gemini Die Cutter works with thin, and especially intricate dies, so I have been thinking I really ought to try it again. It comes in the Junior Size as well as the bigger, Standard Size. Then I have had a couple of friends ask me the sandwich for embossing. So today I decided to go at it again and here are my results. I have also ATTACHED a couple of forms. One shows the Gemini+EmbossingFolders and the other is Gemini Die Cutting. (CLICK on any picture to enlarge.)
Here is where I used a couple of simple and thin regular dies. These are the ones you should use as the Gemini's manual lists the sandwich: Clear Cutting Plate, Embossing Folder with material/card stock inside, and Clear Cutting Plate.
Then I tried a Crafter's Companion 3-D embossing folder that is approximately the same thickness as Stampin' Up!'s 3D/Blue Plate embossing folder. For both of these, the sandwich is: Clear Cutting Plate, Magnetic Shim, S'U! 3D/Blue Plate embossing folder with material/card stock, Plastic Shim.
And I figure a lot of you are like me and still have the really THICK Dynamic embossing folders. That sandwich is: Clear Cutting Plate, Embossing Mat, Dynamic embossing folder with material/card stock, and Metal Shim.
TIPS:
I LOVE my Gemini Die Cutting Machine as it comes with ALL PLATES needed.
Do NOT use both the Magnetic Shim and the Embossing Folder in your Gemini at the same time.
If you notice your sandwich is not going through all together, but pulling the sandwich apart, STOP the machine with the middle button; then push the right button to back it up.
If your sandwich gets stuck in your machine and stops it totally, PRESS + HOLD middle button for 10 seconds. Wha-la! it will start up again and send the sandwich on through.
I LOVE what I do... sharing with YOU!
