Stray Ducklings Peoria Stamp Fair Highlights :)

I truly do LOVE WHAT I DO and especially SHARING with my friends and family!!! Yesterday was a FUN day in Peoria as several of us demonstrators put on a Stray Ducklings Stamp Fair... Quack! Quack! Quack! If you've never been or were not able to make it yesterday, here's just a little of what you missed out on! At Convention, us demonstrators get to enjoy Stampin' Up!'s Prize Patrol -- from time to time, they stop what they are doing in our general assemblies and according to our wrist band colors, we have a chance of a FREE PRIZE!!!  Quack! Valentine Marathon!

What a wonderful, whirl-wind of an afternoon I had, a couple of days ago, on Thursday, February 7th. Earilier, either the 30th or 31st of January, I received a call from a friend of mine who is a member of the Altrusa Club*. She asked for my help on making 125 valentines for the Knox County Nursing Home. Besides my friend, Sherry, I would have help from other Altrusa members as well as some students of Galesburg North High School. As Sherry knows I love stamping as much as I love helping others, it didn't take much thought to agree to help. In our short conversation, I agreed to come up with 3 quick and easy designs that could be quickly put together. But, I had never done anything like this. Quick and easy??? I have been a demonstrator for almost 10 years. Yikes!!! What did I just do??? Do I know quick and easy? My friends and I like to cut, fold, embellish, pop, stamp, and did I mention embellish? But, I knew that it had to be done quickly as we had to be in and out of the school in just under 1-1/2 hours. WE DID IT!!! Hooty-Hoo!!!  Here are the three cards we made.

I am guesstimating that there were around 10 Altrusa women and maybe 20 students (in and out). WOW!!! I thought maybe I would have a total of maybe a 12-15 ... like I say, I really didn't know what to expect. I had everything cut and divided out into three projects. Everyone dove in, we all stamped, cut, die-cut, taped, and in just over an hour, YES!!! we had 125 cards all put together for the Knox County Nursing Home! Yay!!!

I hope I am asked back to help again in the future. This was one exciting, rejuvenating afternoon. Never ever dreamed that that many cards could be created in such a very short time! And even more amazing... maybe only one person in the entire room had ever really stamped before! What A Group!!!

*Altrusa is an international, volunteer service organization of business and professional women dedicated to improving the community through personal service. Members in the Galesburg Altrusa Club unite their varied talents to focus on literacy as well as other projects benefiting Safe Harbor, Knox County Child Advocacy Center, Adopt-a-Highway, and the Knox County Jail.

Blizzard 2011... snowpocalypse!

Well, this time those weather people pretty much had it play by play! I certainly hope Spring will be here early (lol!).

Not exactly what you want to wake up to.

This is the bush just outside our garage door. Drift is as high as it is.

Here is going across the garage door. Looks like I am staying home. Yay!

Unfortunately, I have a bad shoulder and don't want to take a chance on taking it out of socket again. Or, maybe that is a fortunate thing for today, huh? I prefer to watch from the window :)

So much snow. Mikey is finally past our bushes, just outside our garage door.

Yes, I did manage to make it out a few times.

He's almost there... but lots more snow!

Time to get the snow blower out, but as you can see, it blows back on Mikey and he was covered with the white stuff by the time he made it to the road.

And this morning I heard on the radio that it was "determined" this WAS a blizzard. I guess it depends on how much snow you get -- 15 inches qualified it!  Paper is saying that Abingdon & Monmouth got 20" and Galesburg got 15".  But, all is well. We are sitting in a warm house tonight and I am off to work on swaps for our meeting this Saturday!

I did try to make it into work on Thursday morning, which I did with no problems, until I turned to go down the street I normally park on. With only one lane, and being afraid I was going to get stuck, I made it down the block and exited straight for home, since due to these extreme conditions, parking lots were not cleared or bad as well. I remembered when our boys were little, another blizzard where they actually enjoyed it!
